Doctors

Picture
Matthew Stonecypher, BS, DVM, Owner
Dr. Matt Stonecypher has been part of the Docton team since June of 2000. He completed his undergrad at Miami University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Botany. He went on to complete his DVM at Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000.
Dr. Bill hired Dr. Matt as a recent graduate with plenty to offer. He had a penchant for feline medicine and ultrasound technology (he was instrumental in introducing ultrasound technology to the Docton clientele), and a desire to learn. In 2007, Dr. Matt and Dr. Tina purchased the clinic. In his role as owner, Dr. Matt continues to advance the clinic's technology. Over the years, he has become known as our resident "cat doctor." Additionally, Dr. Matt is PennHip certified (you can read more about the PennHip technique in our Radiology tab, under Services).
In his time away from work, Dr. Matt enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, and home-brewing beer. In addition to his wife and two daughters, he shares his home with 3 cats, Eleanor, Ron and Luna, and a rabbit named Bowen.

Tina Stonecypher, BS, MS, DVM, Owner
Dr. Tina Stonecypher graduated from Penn State University with her Bachelor Degree in Biology and a Master’s  in Vertebrate Physiology. She then continued her education at Ohio State University, where she completed her DVM in 2000.
Dr. Tina joined Docton Animal Clinic in 2005. She has enjoyed the challenges and rewards of ownership and management since she and Dr. Matt purchased the practice in 2007. Together, they have worked hard to make improvements to the clinic, as well as helping the staff grow professionally. Dr. Tina's favorite part of veterinary medicine is surgery, although she also enjoys interacting with owners and their pets. She also enjoys dentistry and has attended several continuing education courses to improve her skills.
In her free time, Dr. Tina spends time with her family and friends. She also enjoys cooking and running. She has competed in several area 5K’s, 4 half-marathons, and has even completed a full marathon. Her furry children include 3 cats, Eleanor, Ron and Luna, and a rabbit named Bowen.

Picture
Gretchen Gale, DVM
Dr. Gale graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and moved to Xenia in 1988 with her husband, Tim.
Dr. Gretchen Gale joined Docton Animal Clinic in November 1988, a few years after graduating from Purdue  University and Purdue Veterinary School. Dr. Gale was the first veterinarian Dr. Bill hired after purchasing the clinic in March! Dr. Gale's favorite part of veterinary medicine is helping pets throughout their entire lives. She enjoys seeing puppies and kittens for their very first visit, and then continuing to be involved with their health and treatment over the years.
Dr. Gale and her husband have 3 sons. When she isn't busy with her family, she enjoys bike riding. Ada, pictured with Dr. Gale, was an Airedale Terrier and Dr. Gale's favorite dog.

Bill Imperial, BS, DVM
Dr. Bill has a rich history with Docton Animal Clinic (read more in the Our History tab). After graduating from Bowling Green with a Bachelor's degree in 1973, then OSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, he joined Dr. Frank Docton here in Xenia.
In 1988, Dr. Bill purchased the clinic from "Doc", whom retired shortly thereafter. Then, after 19 years of ownership, Dr. Bill sold the practice to Drs. Matt and Tina. He continues to be involved here at Docton and performs special surgeries on Tuesdays. Dr. Bill's favorite part of veterinary medicine is the variety of cases he sees, as well as the challenge of surgery.
He now enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and "dating" his wife. He also likes to exercise, and is active in his church. Although he only has "grandpets" now, he will never forget his Golden Retriever, Sophie, of 12 years or his dachshund, Millie, of 16+ years. Millie was an extra-special pet. At 4 years old, she ruptured a disc in her back; it was the worst rupture Dr. Bill had ever diagnosed. Millie was totally paralyzed in her back legs, but she was healthy otherwise. She had a great attitude, so Dr. Bill and his wife lovingly took care her. They even had a cart made so she could pull herself around. As Dr. Bill says, "What a dog she was!" Millie was the longest living paralyzed dog known to Docton Animal Clinic.

In her time away from work, Dr. Christy enjoys spending time with family, gardening, reading, and yoga. She and her family share their home with 2 cats, Penny and Kobo, and a small mixed breed dog, Nora (pictured).

Dr. Koether joined us in October 2018 after some time at an equine practice. She loves interacting with people and their pets on a day to day basis, and helping those pets throughout their lives. She enjoys surgery and finds each different case fascinating. Dr. Koether also enjoys sharing her wealth of knowledge with others, especially her peers. She is active with the Veterinary Leadership Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of healthy and resilient leaders who can make a positive difference for the profession. Dr. Koether is also heavily involved with TeleVet, an online veterinary platform.
Dr. Koether is originally from Connecticut, but now resides in the Wilmington area with her German Shepherd, Kahlua. In her free time, she enjoys exercising and running, and spending time with friends.

Edna Moore, RVT
Edna earned her Associates of Science of Veterinary Technology from Penn Foster in 2012. Her love for all things furry and otherwise has driven her desire to care for and learn about animals. She has attended many seminars and conferences, mostly focusing on nutrition and dentistry.
Edna is a long time, dedicated employee of Docton Animal Clinic; she joined the Docton team in 1994. Edna’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is helping pets live healthier lives through treatment and client education. She is our surgery technician, assisting in surgery procedures and dental cleanings. If your pet needs a procedure done, Edna will likely be caring for your pet!
Edna is a life-time resident of the Greene/Clinton County area.  She and her husband, Trent, have 3 children. Besides caring for her family, farm life – including chickens, cattle,  and goats – keeps her busy in her time away from work. Pictured with Edna are Dually, a Golden Retriever, and Blue, a Great Pyranees mix. Some of Edna’s current furry kids include 6 dogs: Athena, Bella and Tank (all Great Pyrenees), Mario (a Brittany mix), Annie (a Brittany) and Milly (a rat terrier). She also has 2 cats, Alex and Tigger.

As our Safety Officer, Jessica also works hard to keep our clinic a safe place to work and helps us adhere to OSHA's rules and guidelines. Jessica has also re-vamped our internal training program, giving it a much needed overhaul.

Practice Manager

Picture
Tiffany Atley, BS, MS, CVPM
Tiffany began her career with Docton immediately following high school graduation. She worked as a veterinary assistant throughout college and graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood Education with a focus on Mathematics in 2004. She completed her Masters of Education in 2005. She continued working at Docton while taking several long-term substitute positions at nearby schools. When a career in the education field didn't come to fruition, she was offered a full-time position as office manager.
Tiffany went on to earn her Certificate in Veterinary Practice Management from St. Petersburg College in 2013. She then achieved the title of Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in 2015 after completing the necessary requirements and sitting for a national test, as designated by the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association. She is one of approximately 500 CVPMs nationwide. She enjoys the variety a veterinary office offers and rarely misses an opportunity to gush over puppies and kittens, although she has a particular soft spot for our more "senior" patients.
She resides with her husband, Brandon, and two sons on a Greene County farm. She shares her home with an orange and white cat, Tater, a Rottweiler, Yelta, and 2 barn cats:  Fluffy, and Precious. Her free time is spent camping, swimming, fishing, and just being outdoors with her family, as well as reading and scrapbooking.
